Counselling for Young People (16+)

Compassionate emotional support for teenagers and young people (16+) in Street, near Glastonbury, Somerset and online across the UK.

Growing up and adolescence can bring emotional challenges that are difficult to understand, express or navigate alone. Young people may experience anxiety, overwhelm, low self-esteem, friendship difficulties, school-related stress, family changes, grief, emotional withdrawal, or a growing sense that something does not feel right.

I have a special interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and people with experiences of disability and difference, working in a way that is affirming, inclusive, and deeply respectful of each person’s individuality.

I offer a calm, supportive and confidential space where young people can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.

Sessions are tailored sensitively to the age, personality and needs of each young person, helping them feel emotionally safe, listened to and respected.

How I Work with Young People

Creative therapy tools including stones, crystals, art materials and symbolic objects used to support emotional expression in counselling for young people.

My approach is gentle, relational and trauma-informed. I understand that young people do not always communicate directly through conversation alone.

Sessions may include creative exploration, metaphor, imagery, drawing, mindfulness, emotional awareness work or simple reflective dialogue depending on what feels most comfortable and supportive.

I aim to create a space where young people feel accepted without pressure, judgement or expectation.

Some teenagers arrive with clear difficulties they want support with. Others may struggle to explain what they are feeling but know something feels overwhelming, confusing or emotionally heavy.

How Counselling for Under 18’s Works

The process begins with reaching out and arranging an initial consultation. With parent consent and agreement to an initial six sessions, the young person attends a first session where we begin contracting and creating a safe, confidential therapeutic space together.

The therapeutic journey then unfolds through weekly sessions, leading to a six-session review where the young person may choose to invite their parent into an open conversation about the way forward.
